From Tim Smith of the Daily News: “If the Giants had played the style of dominating football that they did against the Redskins Monday night all season long, they would have locked up the division three weeks ago and would be in the conversation with New Orleans as the cream of the NFC.”
Now, I know the Redskins had been playing decent football of late, prior to Monday’s thumping at the hands of Big Blue, but this was still a substandard team playing as if it had quit on its coach (and who could blame them). Could we calm down a little bit, Timmy? Anyway,
here’s the rest of the column.
Brandon Jacobs was on his way to have a tooth looked at, and it may or may not have been the result of a punch thrown by Albert Haynesworth.
I’m not concerned about Jacobs’ tooth,
but Aaron Ross’s hamstring does worry me, and Ralph Vacchiano’s Blue Screen blog dedicates a lot of space to Giant injuries. I know everyone’s banged-up at this time of year, but sheesh.
Post columnist Steve Serby runs down a few of the more memorable moments in Giants Stadium history and admonishes the Giants to make their final game there one to remember. Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger, by contrast, relays that
Big Blue cannot afford to be nostalgic about a stadium in this game.
I started this blog entry with a “no kidding” link, and I’ll bring it full-circle with another one. AP football writer Tom Canavan points out that the “
Giants D-Line Finally Bringing Pressure.” Well, yes. Again, that was against the sad-sack Redskins (pardon the pun). Of course, as he also points out, this was not the case even one week earlier, in a pathetic performance against the Eagles. It was nice to see some pressure for one night. I’m not holding my breath for a repeat performance.
