Oh, The People You'll Meet
It’s people-watchers paradise here on Radio Row. As if anything could top Thursday’s sighting of Joe Montana, Barry Sanders, Derrick Brooks, Michael Ohre, and Miles Austin, today I saw Usher, Snoop Dogg, Chris Rock, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Rob Schneider, Roy Jones Jr., Tiki Barber, Chad Henne, Phil Buchanon and Ricky Watters.

Whew! What a lineup! Oh, and I met the mom of the late Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas in the super-long Starbucks line. A very, very proud mother (as she should be). It was a real honor talking to her. She lives here in Miami, where Derrick starred at South Miami Senior High School.

Freeney Update
Either the Colts are milking this one as long as possible or there’s really hope Dwight Freeney may play. According to Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell, “He’s treading in the right direction. He’s getting better but we’ll see. It’s still a day-to-day situation. We’ll see how he is at the end of the day.”

Freeney was listed as probable on today’s injury report.

Another area of concern for the Colts is a back injury sustained by Ryan Lilja that kept him out of Thursday’s practice. “We anticipate he’s going to play. We do not forsee a problem,” said Caldwell in his press conference this morning.

Thomas’ Running Marked By A Chip On His Shoulder
One-third of the Saints’ powerful rushing attack, Pierre Thomas, acknowledged that he was often overlooked in his young playing days and even discouraged from playing football.

“All my life I’ve been told ‘you’re too small, you’re not fast enough, you’re not strong enough, you’re not big enough, you’re not going to succeed so don’t expect a lot,’" he said. "Just hearing that, it gets you down and makes you doubt yourself, but me, I didn’t think that.

“You got people criticizing you all the time and trying to make you feel down about yourself and not succeed to the level that you want to be at. I just tell myself, ‘You can do it, you can. Just keep fighting and keep working hard.' And if I keep telling myself that, anything is possible. The sky is the limit. That’s the whole mindset I kept telling myself.

“Having the support of my mom and my cousin, and my family, my friends that helped support me, my coaches – just having positive people at my side gave me the strength to keep fighting also.”
