NFL Blog Blitz: Super Bowl Media Day Notebook

Media Day was moved indoors, and it’s all the Colts’ fault. Every time they come down south to play, it rains. So I made a proposal to Dwight Freeney. Since the Vikings got a song out of Prince, why not get rappers Fat Joe and Lil’ Wayne to do a “Colts Make It Rain” music video? His response:
“You know, it is kind of funny after the first time we came, bringing a monsoon to the Super Bowl. But obviously it produced good results so hey, whatever helps. I’m not really hoping it rains. I’d rather have great weather so we don’t have a bad surface. But we’ll do what we do. It doesn’t matter if it snows.”
Most Popular Body Part
Aside from the obvious Dwight Freeney ankle saga, the most popular body part of the day belonged to the left arm of Saints’ defensive tackle Remi Ayodele.
Ayodele’s entire arm is covered with Hollywood movie star legends Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and the late singer Aaliyah. Says Ayodele, who proudly showed off his ink to reporters – “Marilyn’s my favorite.” He added, “Lucy was hot, man … I had to get her.”
Say What Now?
The “Most Ridiculous Question of the Day Award” goes to the reporter who asked Colts linebacker Cody Glenn, “Have you ever had a foursome?” A close second goes to the one Dwight Freeney got from a Latina reporter, “Could you tackle me?” So, um, how did McSleazy and McVomit get into the building?
Best Costume
Vic “the Brick” Jacobs of Fox Sports Radio was by far the most outrageous of the day: Think “Time Machine Man” from the movie Pursuit of Happiness, paired with Lady Gaga sunglasses (I have Steve Madden ones just like it), school-bus yellow sneakers and a bamboo rainstick.
I asked, “Will the stick make it stop raining?” He replied, “No. It’s a connection to the soul, to the
hollow, to the spiritual center. Once you’re connected to the center, you are one with everything … tranquility, harmony and respect.”
Hmmmm.
Best Sighting
Of course I was leaving the building when Herschel Walker decided to show up at the Media Center. And of course he has no idea how old he is. I would have thought he was insane for taking up mixed martial arts at age 47 ... until I saw how jacked he looks. Benjamin Button? I think so.
