After three decades as a radio legend in Chicago, Steve Dahl has earned the right to give his opinion on just about anything.
A longtime Bears fan, Dahl isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts about Lovie Smith, Jay Cutler and the crew on his podcast or Twitter feed.
Dahl, mind you, will forever be linked to the Chicago sports scene.
As a radio DJ in 1979, he and Mike Veeck pulled off one of the most controversial ballpark promotions of all time. Dahl talked with Keith Olbermann about Disco Demolition Night , a White Sox promotion in which he blew up thousands of disco records submitted by fans during a break between a Sox-Tigers doubleheader. The explosion set of riots and bonfires in the outfield until officials called off the second game.
Dahl regularly weighs in on Bears games, sometimes from the game, sometimes from home. He often has former Bear Tom Thayer on his podcast to talk about the team (usually on Mondays or Tuesdays) and some of his tweets about the team are thoughtful, provocative and at times outrageous.
A sampling of some of his gems:
“I'm predicting that Ray Lewis will actually kill Jay Cutler on Sunday.” Dec 15th, previewing Ravens-Bears
“Who cheesed the Cutler?” 3:35 PM Dec 13th on Packers-Bears
“The act of getting caught in a revolving door is now called a 'Chris Williams'.” 3:31 PM Dec 13th onPackers-Bears
“Can someone please tell me why the Bears took a knee with momentum finally on their side?” 1:36 PM Dec 13th on Packers-Bears
“Devin Hester needs to stop running around like Curly [from The Three Stooges] on punt returns.” 11:11 AM Dec 12th, previewing Packers-Bears
“People are now referring to a revolving door as an Orlando Pace.” 6:01 AM Dec 7th after Rams-Bears
“I'd like someone from the media to hound Ron Turner and document his every move. I'll volunteer to do it.” 7:21 PM Dec 6th after Rams-Bears
“That victory was as hollow as Ron Turner's head.” 2:59 PM Dec 6th on Bears’ victory over the Rams
“Lovie Smith is like a guy on the Titanic saying ‘It's just an iceberg, how bad can it be?’ 12:47 PM Dec 4th after Bears-Vikings
