Bears at Bengals: The Pick Is ...

Forget Chad Ochocinco’s trash talk on Twitter and instead think about the key point he makes, and like it or not, it’s a good one. The Bengals, like the Falcons, create matchup problems for the Bears defense. If former Bear Cedric Benson can get outside with the Bengals running game, as he’s been able to do often this season, it will bring the Bears safeties and linebackers up and will open the passing game for Carson Palmer. That’s been the recipe for the Bengals’ success this year, although Houston found a way to slow it down last week. Hunter Hillenmeyer could bring some help to the Bears’ middle linebacker position if he returns, but will it be enough, especially with Pisa Tinoisamoa (knee) out at outside linebacker? And will the Bears offensive line actually open a hole for Matt Forte? We’re thinking the gap may open just enough for the Bears to squeak by in this one.
Prediction: Bears 23, Bengals 21.

The Bengals have come from behind often and have shown a lot of heart, but they have also shown that they can be thrown on and Jay Cutler should have a field day. No Antwan Odom will give him time to throw and the weather forecast for Cincinnati is a good one. The Bears need to get their running game going, but I don't think this is the day to push it. They can win by putting the ball in the air so that's what they should do.

After experiencing red zone blues in Atlanta, the Bears begin to punch them home in Cincinnati. But don't give Carson Palmer any extra time, because he's shown that he can lead a gun fight with the best of them. Bears D-Line - bolstered by Gaines Adams - needs to show up big. If they do, Bears win.

Can the Bears clean up the litany of mistakes that plagued them in Atlanta in Week 6? I think so, but it has to start with QB Jay Cutler. The Bengals are without their top pass rusher (Antwan Odom), and their secondary appears ripe for exploiting. Conversely, the Bears can't let Cedric Benson run wild. The guess here is they won't.
