Editor's note: This is one in a periodic series of looks at the top Bears bars in the Windy City.
Kasey’s Tavern
Address: 701 S. Dearborn St., Chicago, Ill. 60605
Grub: Pizza and popcorn are available at Kasey’s Kitchen, and you can order food from several restaurants in the neighborhood, including Bar Louie and Hackney’s. We had the eight-burger sliders, which were outstanding. But beware the $3 delivery fee, which can make it a little expensive. Good prices and alcohol balance out the tab, though.
The eight-burger sliders were a perfect complement to Kasey's selection of beverages.
Booze: Cans and bottles of domestic beers can run in the $2 to $3 range. But don’t be a cheapskate. Spring for a beer on tap.
Atmosphere: If you want to kick it old-school, this is the place. Just a mile northwest of the Soldier Field, Kasey’s is best-known as having the second-oldest liquor license, in 1889. (The Berghoff is the city’s oldest.) Kasey’s, in its current location since 1974, has a giant projection screen and eight 50-inch plasma screens over the bar that make it comfortable viewing at a long, narrow bar.
