In the past two weeks, the Panthers finally have started playing up to their potential.

It's probably not a coincidence that this hot streak, which includes big wins over the Vikings and Panthers, has coincided with the emergence of Matt Moore. The team's backup quarterback was far from spectacular in his first couple starts in relief of Jake Delhomme, but has come on strong of late. In the past two games, the third-year pro is 36 of 53 for 470 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

He has had plenty of help from running back Jonathan Stewart and a strong defense, but it's still worth wondering if Moore is now the team's quarterback for 2010 and beyond.

Coach John Fox, who is now expected back next season, addressed the issue (but not really) in his Monday media session. To add to the discussion, Andrew Mason of panthers.com looks at some more stats, comparing Moore's performance this month to other NFL quarterbacks and to previous Carolina signal-callers.
