Ever wonder what Panthers coach John Fox is really thinking when he delivers “coach-speak” answers to questions from a mind-less media?

Let’s crawl in Fox’s head and listen to his “Little Voice,” you know, that part of our alter ego studied by Freud and immortalized by Magnum P.I.

Ready? The press conference is starting. (It is a bit cramped in Fox’s head.)

Mind-less Media question: What is the update on Jake Delhomme’s chest injury?

Fox said: He feels good. He was in to watch (game) tape (Monday). I think he’s got some soreness.

Fox’s Little Voice: I can’t believe my future is tied to his.

Mind-less Media: Are you worried Delhomme will not start Sunday against the Saints?

Fox said: Yea.

Fox’s Little Voice: I’m glad they didn’t ask me if I’m worried Delhomme will start Sunday?

Mind-less Media: Are you shocked how the running game dominated the Cardinals last Sunday?

Fox said: Our run element was very good, no doubt. That’s a very good defense. It’s something we lean on.

Fox’s Little Voice: I will never again call for a forward pass.

Mind-less Media: Was it just great effort by the defense, forcing six turnovers?

Fox said: I actually read (articles saying) we weren’t trying as hard this year.

Fox’s Little Voice: This sure is better than having to explain my job security.

Mind-less Media: Is this the best stretch of games in Julius Pappers’ career?

Fox said: That’s my opinion and I’ve watched him for a while. His play over the last month I think has had a big thing to do with our defense playing better.

Fox’s Little Voice: Pep better not forget me during his Hall of Fame induction speech.

Mind-less Media: Are the special teams improving?

Fox said: Yeah, I think so.

Fox’s Little Voice: Is anyone buying this?
