The Buffalo Bills are officially beginning their interview process for prospective head coaches this week. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports via his Twitter account, the Bills brass are flying to Minnesota either today (Wednesday) or Thursday to meet with Minnesota defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. According to sources, Pat Moran of BuffaloSportsDaily.com is reporting that the Bills will meet with the San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera as well before the week ends. These interviews are taking place with these two candidates this week because both of these teams are on a bye week before the second round of the playoffs.
Other coaching updates:
Bill Cowher: Still quiet on this front. There are thousands of reports contradicting each other about Cowher's intentions. Only ime will tell.
Marty Schottenheimer: He has been quoted in numerous media outlets that he has no interest in a return to the sidelines.
Brian Schottenheimer (son of Marty): According to "online oddsmakers," Schottenheimer is one of two coaches who are predicited to become the new head coach; the other is Cowher. The Bills will not be able to speak with Schottenheimer until the New York Jets are eliminated from the playoffs. He is currently the offensive coordinator with them.
Brian Billick: According to WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, Billick has already begun the process of assembling a staff in case he is asked to interview for the Bills job. He has already contacted former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice, who is currently the assistant head coach in Jacksonville. The two worked together in Minnesota when Billick was the offensive coordinator and Tice coached the offensive line before becoming head coach. But Peter King said on ESPN Wednesday night that he doesn't see Billick getting or having interest in the job.
