Here’s the rundown of players that did not participate in practice or participated on a limited basis.

Did not practice

QB Trent Edwards (ankle)

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (ankle)

LB Bryan Scott (head)

S Todd Johnson (hamstring)

Limited in practice

LB Ashlee Palmer (ankle)

There was plenty of news from media today from the Bills camp.

Jairus Byrd was placed on injured reserve, and he will have surgery soon to repair the nagging groin injury that's bothered him the last two months. He joins Trent Edwards as Bills that have been placed on the IR list this week.

“He’s a competitor,” said interim head coach Perry Fewell. “He wants to be on the field. He’s a young guy that thinks he can contribute to wins, and he felt like he couldn’t contribute to wins with the way he was struggling. It was what we thought was best."

Aaron Schobel gave some surprising but not overly shocking news today. He told the media that he's considering retirement at the end of this season. He's only 32, which isn't exactly ancient in terms of NFL defensive ends, but he and Brian Moorman are the longest-tenured Bills, and they haven't ever reached the post-season. That's got to have a big effect on the guy. Heading into this week's contest with the Atlanta Falcons, Schobel is second in team history with 75 career sacks.

Here's a rundown of the Falcons injury report:

Did not practice

CB Chris Houston (hamstring)

LB Curtis Lofton (shoulder/hamstring)

QB Matt Ryan (toe)

RB Michael Turner (ankle)

Limited in practice

DE Jamaal Anderson (chest)

DT Jonathan Babineaux (shoulder)

OT Sam Baker (elbow/hamstring)

G Harvey Dahl (ankle)

It's tough to judge at this point if Ryan or Turner will play because they did both play last week against the Jets. One thing for sure, their injuries are of the nagging variety.

Bills QB situation

It's not official whether Brian Brohm or Gibrad Hamdan will start on Sunday, but here's what the former Louisville Cardinal standout had to say about getting a chance to play in a regular season game.

"It’s a great opportunity. Right now I’m getting reps with the [first team], nothing I think is set in stone officially. Fitz [Ryan Fitzpatrick] still might have a chance of coming back, but right now it’s a great opportunity to get reps in the offense and to really learn it as quick as I possibly can and get comfortable with it as fast as I can."

Many are wondering if Brohm will have the terminology down to run the offense efficiently:

"Yeah, I’m pretty comfortable with it. This is the first time I’m getting in the huddle, calling the plays, getting in there and doing the snap count, so the small things that you kind of take for granted are some things that we were working on today and I think we got everything ironed out and I feel good about it."

At least the kid has confidence, and it's a good thing that Buffalo gets the opportunity to start auditioning quarterbacks for next season already.

More from BillsBlogBlitz later this week. Have a great holiday.
