Tuesday marked a busy day at One Bills Drive, providing some excitement to a free-agent period that's been rather dull thus far. BuffaloBills.com reported that free agent linebacker Andra Davis was on the second day of his visit, and Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Dwan Edwards was also in Orchard Park to meet with Bills management and coaches.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Edwards would instantly be plugged in at the 3-4 end position, but is very versatile and can play anywhere across the defensive front. He also has vast experience in the 3-4 alignment which will help make the Bills' transition more seamless.

He's fully aware that the end position in the 3-4 isn't going to give him the big numbers normally associated with ends in the 4-3, but Edwards has no problems with it.

“It’s definitely not a glamorous position,” he said in a BuffaloBills.com story. “You kind of free up the linebackers to make a lot of plays. It’s about setting the edge and being able to hold the point. It’s a lot of grinding and a lot of dirty work, but I’ve kind of been brought up to do that work and not get a lot of credit for it. That’s kind of the job you lead when you play there in a 3-4."

Edwards said he likes what he's seen and heard about the Bills, an organization that's trying to grow.

"It’s an up and coming organization and they play in a tough division, and I kind of like the challenge of that,” Edwards told Buffalobills.com. “I had a former teammate in Justin Bannan that played here in Buffalo and he told me a lot of great things about the fans here and I thought it might be a good place for me.”

At 28, Edwards boasts the perfect combination of a experience and fresh legs, and has already visited Seattle and Denver.

In 2009, Edwards capped off his most productive season as a professional with 47 tackles, a sack and a pass breakup. He was recovering from a spinal injury that curtailed his 2008 campaign, and told BuffaloBills.com that he's fine now.

“I don’t have any issues,” Edwards said. ”I’ve been cleared to play by the doctor that did my surgery. I saw the spine guy here today, Dr. Cappuccino, and he said everything looked good. Different doctors are going to have different opinions on what they see, but so far, so good here.”
