Could it really happen?

Last night, Bills fans throughout the nation were treated with the best news they have heard in a long time-- Bill Cowher reportedly is interested in the Bills head coaching job. The news came from Sal Capaccio from SalSports.com on his Ustream webcast. For those who may not know, Cappacio was the first to break the story of Terrell Owens coming to Buffalo. The webcast brought in so many viewers that it actually crashed during the show. Once he finally got the show back up and running around 11:45 p.m., there were still hundreds watching. Capaccio had learned through a trusted NFL source that Cowher was “very impressed” with the Bills organization and hadn’t shut the door on possibly becoming their next head coach. The source was also quoted as saying, “I wouldn’t be surprised if they were meeting today (Tuesday).”

The story last night was first reported here on the Bills Blog Blitz, and since then, it has shown up on many national media outlets. The most important thing about the story now having legs is that it has not been shot down by the Bills organization or by Cowher’s camp.

Growing up as a Bills fan in western Pennsylvania, I have spent my entire life surrounded by dedicated fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have watched them year in and year out in the playoffs, always wishing that some day, the Bills would be this successful again and might actually bring home a championship to the great fans of Buffalo. I could have never imagined a day where “The Chin” could possibly be roaming the sidelines sporting the red, white, and blue. I don’t know if this is all just a dream that Bills fans have been experiencing in the past 24 hours, but if so, it’s a dream none of them want to wake up from.

Bills fans have already begun to rally the troops and let their voices be heard-- again. We all know how Bills fans funded a billboard in protest for owner Ralph Wilson, Jr. to fire Dick Jauron and it happened. More details will be coming in the near future on their plans, and we will have them for you as soon as we hear them here on the Bills Blog Blitz.

All the pundits will say it will never happen, but maybe, just maybe, it will.

All you gotta do is “BILLieve.”
