Power Rankings: Ravens Drop A Few Spots

Well, so much for those two weeks of national-media love. The Ravens lost a tough road game and went tumbling in the rankings, which is kind of interesting considering the general consensus was that the refs hosed the Ravens. Even the fine-happy NFL weighed in on the matter by not fining Ray Lewis — who called the roughing-the-passer penalties "an embarrassment" — or Ed Reed.
Adrian Hasenmayer, FoxSports.com: Ravens No. 7. Since he seemingly wasn’t a believer in the Ravens prior to Sunday’s loss, Hasenmayer kept them at seven this week.
ESPN.com: Ravens No. 7. Inexplicably, after losing on the road in New England by six points, the Ravens slid down six spots in the rankings while the Jets, who lost by two touchdowns in New Orleans, moved up one. Although AFC North blogger James Walker notes that he’s "baffled by the fickleness of AFC North teams week to week."
Don Banks, SI.com: Ravens No. 8. Banks argues that while the Ravens lost a close one, they should still be ranked behind all the undefeated teams, plus the Patriots and the Jets (because the Jets beat the Patriots).
Peter King, SI.com: Ravens No. 8. King also has the Ravens dropping seven slots despite the fact that he thinks "the Ravens probably should be 4-0."
Pete Prisco, CBS.com: Ravens No. 8. Prisco rightly questions the Ravens’ secondary as he drops them four spots in his rankings.
This week will be another gut-check for the Ravens’ pass defense when Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco (it really is a ridiculous name) and his Twitter feed come to town. Sunday can’t come soon enough.
