The Atlanta Falcons will have a tough row to hoe when they take on the offensive juggernaut that is the New Orleans Saints on Monday.

Couple the NFL’s most prolific offense against an Atlanta defense that made Tony Romo look like Troy Aikman on Sunday and it’s a recipe for a long night in the Big Easy (and we’re not talking about those type of fun nights on Bourbon Street that involve a lot of boozing, beads and another “B” we can’t talk about on a family blog)

Atlanta must make an adjustment to its defense and fast, if it is going to have any chance of winning this crucial game.

Coach Mike Smith is already contemplating some changes.

With good reason:  right now, the Atlanta’s numbers on D are miserable.

After the debacle in Dallas, Atlanta’s defensive unit is ranked 26th in the league against the pass and 23rd against the run - a foreboding sign for a team that is about to take on Drew Brees, a quarterback who preys on weak defenses.

The Falcons can ill afford a loss against the 6-0 Saints if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Atlanta’s defense must lead the way to victory for the Falcons to have a chance.
